Chicken biriyani- Mom's recipe

 Chicken biriyani-  (step by step video below)



Ingredients:

Basmati rice - 1.5  cup

Chicken - 500g

Sliced onion - 3

Sliced tomato -2 medium sized

Green chilli chopped - 5

Ginger crushed - 1 Tsp

Garlic crushed - 1 Tsp

Coriander leaves chopped 

Mint leaves

Biriyani masala

Turmeric powder

Pepper powder

Yoghurt - 2 tsp

Spices- cardamom, cinnamon, chakra phool(star anise),cloves  etc

Salt

Oil

Ghee

Method:

  • Take chicken in a bowl and marinate with yoghurt, biriyani masala(1 Tsp), turmeric powder(1 tsp) pepper powder(1 tsp),salt.
  • Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the chicken pieces in it and keep aside..
  • Soak rice in water for 15 minutes.. boil water by adding salt and spices and put the soaked rice in it and cook till its is 80% done and drain it..
  • Heat oil in a pan and saute onion, ginger- garlic, tomatoes, green chilli ,coriander leaves and mint leaves. when it is cooked add biriyani masala (1 Tsp), pepper powder (1 tsp), turmeric powder (1tsp), and salt  and saute nicely for another 5 minutes in low flame...put the fried chicken pieces in it and mix thoroughly...
  • When masala is done put rice over it and and put roasted onion and cashew, little biriyani masala and some mint leaves and a tsp of ghee over it  and cover and cook it for another 10 minutes on very low flame..

Biriyani is ready to be served....serve with raita and pickle
